Dr. Lauryn Benson is an emergency veterinarian here at Animal Specialty Center. She went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for her undergraduate degree, where she studied pre-veterinary science and spent large amounts of time involved in large animal medicine and research. Dr. Benson attended college at the University of Tennessee where she graduated in the top 20 percent of her class. After graduating, Dr. Benson interned at BluePearl in Manhattan, after which, she accepted a position as a veterinary associate at Prospect Heights Animal Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Throughout that year, despite her wonderful clients and staff, Dr. Benson felt that something was missing. It was at this point that she realized that emergency medicine was her true passion and she joined the team here at Animal Specialty Center as an emergency Veterinarian.
Dr. Benson currently lives in New York City with her boyfriend and her dog Boo, a 9 year old black lab mix. When she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time exploring the city and traveling to exotic locales.
